friday, aug. 5:

today i woke up and went to breakfast. then to class. after class, we went to the tuck shop. then to class again. after class, we went to lunch at the dining hall ... it was decent today. after that, we played croquet for a while (the weather was overcast and cool ... looked like it might rain). then i jogged down to the park and threw the frisbee with some british people for a while before i decided to lay down in the sun and take a nap. i slept for about an hour and woke up around 1630 ... then headed back to campus. i changed clothes and then was heading downtown to look for a "going out" shirt when i ran into andi coming back from the grocery store (she was dominating a pint of milk, as i recall). i, through my devious ways, convinced her to go with me. all the stores were about to close, so we hurried around. i didn't find a shirt, but i did get a cool pair of jeans at this store called republic (NOT banana republic) for £10 ($18) ... so it was a good deal.

after we went shopping we went back to mansfield and sat on the grass for awhile with josh and ben and bill until it was time to go eat dinner. the dessert we had was really good ... it was called cappuccino gateau, and had frozen apples in a pie with a caramel layer on top. considering that i don't really like apples or caramel, it was surprisingly good!

after dinner i went back and studied some for our final exams. at about 2030 we went down to the pub and just hung out in preparation for our planned excursion to bar g. they had rented out the whole basement for us and it had air conditioning (a BIG plus)! josh owed me a drink and so he got me a tequila shot ... it was okay. we danced and had a good time even though the music was horrible. we left at about 1 and stopped at mcdonalds on the way back ... fantastic idea! it was delicious.

when my group got back from mickey d's we all laid out on the quad and looked at the sky. it was a good time, until everyone else started piling back in. then i went on a short walk and headed to bed at about 2. tomorrow will be our first weekend actually staying here in oxford ... and our last. sad!

nostalgically,
grant

ps: i feel like a lot of my entries are the same (go to breakfast, class, lunch, etc.) so i am trying to reduce the time needed to read my blog and the time needed to write it, since time is becoming increasingly hard to come by. anyway, in just over a week i'll be headed back to the states. it seems as if i've been gone for so long, but the time really has flown. anyway, i'm off to bed. night!
