sorry
okay, i apologize for what i'm about to do. i neglected to write in my journal (what i do when i can't get on a computer) for sunday and monday, so it may be a bit rough remembering all that i did. i can tell you that yesterday (monday) i didn't do anything except recover from the weekend, read, and just hang out. exciting, no?
sunday i got up at about 0800 so i'd have time to sightsee some before i had to go back to london. we walked to trinity college - the oldest in ireland - where the book of kells is. it cost €6.50 to go in, and there was a huge line, so we decided not to see it. the college was gorgeous, though, and it is surrounded by a large wall separating it from the hustle and bustle of the city. quite neat. we also walked by st. patrick's cathedral and the bank of ireland. the vast majority of our time, though, was spent in trinity college. it's no oxford though :-) we headed back just before 11 so we could go to church at this missions place next door to our hostel. being a community outreach program, the service wasn't all that interesting or anything, but we did get to talk to lots of people. and they had people from iran, china, and south africa there. so it was okay that we went. i wouldn't go back. at 1200 jenna and i met up with ben and josh so we could walk around some more before i left. i collected my stuff from the hostel and we walked by st. stephens green and oscar wilde's home ... there was a statue of him making a really funny face that we all took pictures with. good times. by this time it was time for me to head for the bus station, so i stopped at subway and grabbed some food to take with (avoid airport prices) and walked to the bus station. it was a LONG way and my feet hurt a lot by the time i got there, but i caught the bus and made it to the airport. after checking in for my flight, i went thru security and to my gate. sarah and brian (my travel partners) met me there. i ate my sandwich and spent my remaining €3 on a coke and 2 candy bars. good buys.
got on the flight - since it was a low-fare airline (ryanair), it was very no-frills. the plane kinda seemed like it was going to fall apart, to ... but it didn't. i slept the whole flight and then when we got to gatwick we caught the bus for oxford and we got stuck in traffic so it was go stop go stop go ... you get the idea. made us all feel sick. we got off the bus and back to mansfield where we just hung out with our friends who had gone to other places and talked about our weekends. exciting stuff, boy lemme tell you. anyway...that's about it. i think you're mostly up to date! now i'm gonna go study :-( but i guess i gotta do it sometime.
frenetically,
grant

GRANT - I got your postcard yesterday, thanks (we just got back from a trip to GA so I probably got it late...)! I love reading all your stories and you'll be so glad when this is all over that you wrote everything down. But then your grandkids will be able to see what a crazy their grandpa was. 2 sides to everything!! Just kidding. Enjoy the rest of your time there!
-Sarah
